COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT “DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER“

The Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka brought the project “Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” to an end, but the friendships, valuable experiences and stories of our living books, which were told during this concept of the Living Library, will live on for a long time in all of us.

With today’s last presentation of the Living Library, and the evaluation of the results and striking impressions, we complete the project financially supported by the Embassy of the United States of America in BiH.

Living books presented their life pages in front of listeners in many places throughout BiH, but also online, and we can say for sure that they did not leave anyone indifferent, but awakened empathy, compassion, impacted the development of a culture of dialogue and breaking prejudices.

Let’s remind, the Living Library concept is used to build a better framework for dialogue between people, especially young people, that can expose prejudices, counter hate speech against marginalized groups and challenge existing stereotypes, while promoting reconciliation and new, positive values.

Direct contact and conversation with people – living books who have different experiences help in better understanding of various life challenges and perspectives, which leads to greater tolerance and acceptance of diversity.

Because people, just like books, should not be judged by their covers.
