The first panel “Rights, position and obstacles faced by human rights defenders in Bosnia and Herzegovina – main findings and recommendations” on December 10 at the SCC

The first panel entitled “Rights, position and obstacles faced by human rights defenders in Bosnia and Herzegovina – main findings and recommendations” will be held on December 10, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Student Cultural Center, and we will present the main findings from the Report on the rights, position and obstacles faced by defenders in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The panelists will also address popular topics:

  • How influential are anti-gender movements in BiH?
  • How has the criminalization of defamation affected the work of activists?
  • How difficult is it to obtain information of public interest?
  • What are the main obstacles faced by HRDs?
  • What is the general state of human rights in BiH?

Panelists are:

ENA KLJAJIĆ GRGIĆ, a lawyer, has been working for Transparency International in BiH since 2008. She is an expert in administrative procedures and administrative disputes related to the implementation of the Law on Freedom of Access to Information. She has participated in numerous conferences, panels, round tables, trainings, and is also engaged as a implementer of professional development programs by the Civil Service Agency of the FBiH in the field of ​​the Right to Access to Information.

SINIŠA VUKELIĆ, has been a journalist since 1997; graduated in economics, majoring in marketing. His first engagement was at the Fleš news agency, and then moved to the “SRNA” agency, where he remained for the next eight years. Since 2007, he has been a journalist and editor at Alternative Television Banja Luka. He is also owner, editor-in-chief of two specialized web portals – for economics CAITAL.ba and for energy ENERGETIKARS.com; collaborator of several media outlets from RS, BiH and the region; President of the BHN Journalist Club in Banja Luka from 2011-2024; President of the Association for the Promotion of European Standards and Improvement of the Business Environment. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the “Association of BH Journalists’” for two terms; a member of the Board of Directors of the “New Generation” Association Banja Luka; a member of the Transparency International Assembly.

TEA POKRAJČIĆ, a human rights defender and legal expert with many years of experience in strengthening democracy and the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She coordinates the work of the Human Rights House Banja Luka and the Helpline for Human Rights Defenders at the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka. As an expert for Eurojust, she specializes in international legal assistance and cross-border cooperation in criminal matters. Her professional career includes key positions in the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she worked on issues of the rule of law and international cooperation.

DRAGANA DARDIĆ, Master of Gender Studies and graduated journalist. She exchanged her ten-year journalistic career, which she built at the Daily Telegraph, Radio Free Europe, BBC and Reuters, for work in the non-government sector, the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly, where she profiled herself for her work on improving women’s human rights, but also the rights of other vulnerable groups, on strengthening the capacities of civil society organizations and the affirmation of socially responsible journalism.

This panel is part of a two-day program within the event “Srđan Aleksić Days” in Banja Luka.

Two-day program that will be held in Banja Luka on December 9 and 10 includes a short documentaries revue, an exhibition and panels, and all will be organized at the Student Cultural Center in Banja Luka.
