The daily struggle and advocacy for women’s human rights becomes even more intense as the month of March approaches, when International Women’s Day is celebrated. As in previous years, the Initiative Women Citizens for Constitutional Reform, the Women’s Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Network for Building Peace and the Agency for Gender Equality of BiH, together with all their members, join forces in solidarity and organize various events throughout BiH. In the past years, members of these initiatives and networks have organized hundreds of activities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of International Women’s Day, and we are continuing this practice this year as well.
All the information that has been collected can be found in the Calendar of Activities on the occasion of the “Women’s Solidarity Week” – a special calendar that serves to promote these events to the public and the media and indicates our common determination to insist on respecting the rights of women and girls in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We speak loudly and clearly about the experiences of women in the world of violence and wars and women’s resistance against violence and wars, the courage of activists and journalists who report from the front lines of wars, the invisibility of unpaid domestic work, the undervaluation of women’s paid work, the right to health care and available drugs for all women, obstetric violence, women’s political participation and the right to participate in every aspect of life, sexual harassment, discrimination, femicide, entrepreneurship, women’s education, but also education about women.
We remind you of the unequal position of women in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the omission of women in historical, social and political life, and let us stand up clearly and loudly against it. We fight for women’s human rights every day together and in solidarity.
