“SRĐAN ALEKSIĆ DAYS”: Short documentaries revue, exhibition and panels in Banja Luka

The event “Srđan Aleksić Days”, which will be held from December 9 to 14 in Banja Luka and Novi Sad, will once again be officially opened this year with a one-day revue of documentaries about human rights.

The two-day program in Banja Luka, on December 9 and 10, will include a revue of short documentaries, an exhibition and panels, and all will be organized at the Student Cultural Center in Banja Luka.

FILM REVUE

The film revue will be held at the Student Cultural Center (on the Student Campus) on Monday, December 9, starting at 5 p.m.

Several short films will be screened as part of the revue. The aim of the revue is to raise awareness about human rights violations and to present several different stories on this topic.

The films we have selected for this year’s revue were shot in the last two years in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

We will seek answers to questions about the limits of human rights through unique film stories, and after the screenings you will be able to ask questions to the panelists who will participate in a discussion about the importance of documentaries and its impact on the public.

The documentaries revue is organized by the Human Rights House Banja Luka, which members and founders are several associations: Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka, Hi Neighbour, Transparency International in BiH, the Center for Environment and the Banja Luka Centre for Human Rights.

After the panel, we will still have time for a short socializing with the participants and authors.

EXHIBITION

We will also have an exhibition at the Student Cultural Center, which you will have the opportunity to see on December 9 and 10, and it is an exhibition of portraits of 12 women human rights defenders from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Ukraine, Croatia, Georgia, Norway, Serbia, Poland and Russia.

This is the third edition of the exhibition titled “Portraits of Strength” organized by the Human Rights House Foundation, which aims to pay tribute and highlight the vital role that women play in defending human rights and freedoms.

The photographs were taken by local photographers and journalists, and show women human rights defenders from across the Human Rights House Network working on various issues, including women’s rights, political prisoners, freedom of expression and much more. The third edition of the exhibition was presented in Oslo in October, and now it is coming to Banja Luka!

PANELS

Also, on December 10, two important and interesting panels will be organized. These are: “Rights, Position and Obstacles Faced by Human Rights Defenders in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Main Findings and Recommendations” and “Who is bothered by female presidents, delegates, directors and deans – Language practices in law and other areas of life”.

Admission is free!

See you on December 9 and 10 in Banja Luka!
