With the aim of promoting dialogue, understanding and tolerance, the Technical School in Brčko hosted an inspiring event – a Living Library. This exceptional event brought together students of two classes who had the opportunity to get to know eight incredible “books” – living stories that represented different life perspectives and experiences.
Eight living books, which were presented, opened dialogues on various topics such as depression, diversity, prejudice, difficulties faced by the youth and many other important social topics. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and hear first-hand stories, which provided a deeper understanding and empathy for different life experiences. The total number of participants with living books and staff reaches the number of 60 people.
As organizers of the event, we are grateful for the great interest of the students, and the school staff emphasized the importance of such initiatives in educating young people about tolerance and diversity. The Living Library in Brčko showed that dialogue is key to building a better and more diverse society and that education is a key tool in that process.
This activity is part of the project “Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” and is supported by the American Embassy in BiH.
