A LIVING LIBRARY WAS HELD IN THE HUMAN RIGHTS HOUSE: Socializing with living books develops empathy

Another living library was held today in the office of the Human Rights House Banja Luka, and listeners had the opportunity to hear interesting, brave and authentic stories of living books.

Our living books are actually people who selflessly “read”, that is, tell others about their life pages, and this concept is very important in breaking prejudices, stereotypes and crates new values and insights.

When we have the opportunity to talk face to face with people who are often stigmatized or who have experienced unusual life situations, it can result in deeper understanding and empathy. Through a conversation with a living book, listeners can better understand their life challenges and how difficult circumstances have shaped their lives. Each of us is in some way a living book, and that is why today’s visitors shared their impressions with us.

This activity, organized by the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka, is implemented in partnership with the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
