The Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka, in cooperation with the “Lara” Foundation, organized a street action in Bijeljina as part of the campaign “Sexual Extortion is Corruption. Let’s Break the Silence!”, whose goal is to raise citizens’ awareness of the importance of recognizing and reporting sexual extortion, as well as advocating the integration of the concept of sexual extortion into the Law on Gender Equality BiH, gender policy and anti-corruption strategy.
The campaign is implemented by the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka with the financial support of the Center for Civic Initiatives and USAID.
The citizens of Bijeljina showed great interest in this street activity, and many said that until now the occurrence of sexual extortion has been kept silent, even though it is happening, and that it is necessary to finally speak louder about sexual extortion/blackmail and say STOP!
This activity was implemented within the project “Citizens in the Fight against Silent Corruption”.
Street activities are planned in several other cities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
