Throughout the year 2023 and the first half of 2024, Bosnia and Herzegovina was followed by a large number of political and economic challenges, which on several occasions diverted the attention of decision makers from the process of European integration, i.e. the reforms that need to be adopted in order for Bosnia and Herzegovina to finally catch up with the rest of the region on this path.
Bosnia and Herzegovina will have to fulfill 14 key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission from May 2019, which relate to democracies/functionality, rule of law, fundamental rights and public administration reform.
Therefore, this report serves as a guide through 14 priorities, since it identifies areas in which there are significant deviations from legal solutions, which, if implemented, would speed up the country’s path towards membership in the European Union.
This publication is the result of the work of civil society organizations within the Initiative for Monitoring the European Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and collaborators outside this coalition. Representatives of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka participated in the writing of this report as well.
