Femicide – general issues

Today we present the paper of Jovana Cvijetinović, a student of the Faculty of Law in Banja Luka, who analyzes the most important issues of femicide, starting with its cause, types and legal regulation. Giving the right name to the murder of women represents the beginning of recognizing the causes that preceded the act of femicide. Femicide is usually the final act of long-term violence against women, so in order to prevent it we need to recognize the specificity of this problem and its causes, and first of all, to recognize all forms of violence against women, even the most covert ones.

You can read the complete paper here. It is part of the activities of the Academy for Gender Equality and EU Integration 2024 within the project “Empowerment Sessions in the Human Rights House” and is implemented in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
