RETREAT LIVING LIBRARY: Gratitude for living books and thanks for breaking prejudice

With the awarding certificates of thanks to our living books, which have selflessly shared the pages of their life stories, the Retreat program Living Library, which was held in a natural and relaxing environment in Teslić, officially ended.

This retreat meeting was an excellent opportunity for the living books, which arrived from various cities in BiH, to get to know better, to have a well-deserved rest, but also to exchange their experiences and impressions from the Living Library project.

The combination of workshops, vacations and social activities helps to achieve balance, to connect even better and open some new pages from our lives to each other.

In the period from 9 to 11 August, in Teslić, the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka organized a three-day retreat.

There was a lot of talk, laughter, creative exercises, but also walks, swimming and, most importantly, the renewal of acquired friendships.

Our living books expand the horizons of their listeners with their stories, and their stories are really interesting, full of empathy and honesty.

As part of this activity, on the initiative of our living books and in cooperation with the Youth Club Teslić, on Saturday we had a gathering in the park in Teslić and a living library in the open air.

Thanks for that.

The Living Library project is extremely important because it deals with breaking down prejudices, stereotypes and discrimination, through personal stories and experiences.

This storytelling approach helps to better understand each other and develop a culture of dialogue and empathy between people.

This retreat activity was implemented as part of the project “Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover”, and the project was financially supported by the American Embassy in BiH.
