About 20 films from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region entered the competition for short films that will be broadcasted at the human rights film revue which will be held on December 9 at the Student Theater in Banja Luka, and the final selection, i.e. the program, will be announced by the end of November.
The revue will officially open “Srđan Aleksić Days” organized by the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka, which will last from December 9 to 11.
The film revue is the first joint activity of the Human Rights House Banja Luka, which members and founders are several associations. In addition to the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka, it consists of: Hi Neighbour, Transparency International BiH, Center for Environment and Banja Luka Center for Human Rights. Its goal is to raise awareness about the threat to human rights through the film, and after the screenings, a panel discussion will be held on the topic: “Human Rights on Film – Impact on the Public”.
“Given that we announced the competition for applications relatively late and that the competition itself lasted for a short period of time, we are satisfied with the response and the quality of the films we received. The revue is limited to one day, so we will not be able to broadcast all the films that have arrived, but we are sure that the selection will be interesting and will open up many questions that we will try to answer in the panel discussion”, the members of the Human Rights House pointed out.
Human Rights House Banja Luka is a platform for strengthening associated civil society organizations and their influence on the state of human rights in the country and the region. In April 2023, the Human Rights House Banja Luka officially became part of the Network of Human Rights Houses operating in 11 Eurasian countries.
