Two very interesting student presentations were held at the Faculty of Law in Banja Luka, which gathered a large number of students. The initiators of these presentations, Jovana Cvijetinović and Marija Mitrović, presented their papers on current topics in the field of gender equality and rights, providing a deep insight into the complex issues that are the subject of their research.
Jovana Cvijetinović presented her paper on the topic “Femicide – General Issues” where she analyzed in detail the most important issues of femicide, starting with its cause, over types to legal regulation. Special emphasis is placed on prevention and recognition, i.e. problem identification. The presentation sparked a lot of discussion among the students, who joined in with questions and comments on the topic of femicide.
The second paper, presented by Marija Mitrović, dealt with the topic entitled “Persecution In the Criminal Legislation of the Republic of Srpska”, where she researched the key principles and challenges in this field with a focus on the analysis of the criminal offense of persecution in the legislation of the Republic of Srpska. Maria’s paper was thoroughly prepared and expertly presented, which stimulated interest and discussion among the students present.
These student presentations not only provided an opportunity for professional development and discussion, but also showed a high level of commitment and knowledge of our students. Jovana and Marija were participants of our online academy for gender equality, an activity supported in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
We hope that such events will become a regular practice and continue to encourage young lawyers to research and further develop in the field of law.
