The aim of the work dealing with the topic of women’s political participation in politics focuses on the analysis of certain provisions of the Election Law of BiH that refer to the position of women in the election process, their equal representation through quotas, the types of sanctions that are prescribed for the discriminatory behavior of political subjects, as well as the influence of internal structures of political parties to the membership of a greater number of women. Also, this paper suggests potential solutions applied by some other countries to improve their electoral system. The analysis “The (un)Favorability of the Electoral Legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Women’s Rights” was written by Moira Kecman, a student of the Faculty of Law in Banja Luka, a participant of our online academy.
The activity is part of the project “Online Academy for Gender Equality and the EU Integration Process”, and is implemented in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
