About sexual extortion with GIZ employees

As part of the 16th Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, and at the invitation of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Gmb in BiH, an online presentation about the campaign “Sexual Extortion is Corruption. Let’s Break the Silence!” was held today for the employees of this international organization.

Svjetlana Marković Ramić, project coordinator from HCA, pointed out, among other things, that sexual extortion is not a private matter, but a social problem, and that this phenomenon also has global aspects. During the presentation, as well as the discussion, the differences between sexual extortion and sexual harassment were discussed, and special attention was drawn to the question of the difference between blackmail and sexual extortion. Marković Ramić said that sexual extortion always involves a position of power (authority), which is used to demand explicit or implicit sexual favors. She highlighted the goals of this campaign, which is to raise public awareness of the importance of recognizing and reporting sexual extortion, as well as advocating the integration of the concept of sexual extortion into legal policies and anti-corruption strategies in BiH. We would like to thank the representatives of GIZ for their interest in this topic and for their attention!
