On Friday, November 11 in Banja Luka Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly held the first networking meeting of free legal aid providers.
The goal of the meeting, which brought together representatives of 11 institutional and non-institutional actors, was to get acquainted with the activities of the project “Strengthening Legal Aid Providers to Fight Discrimination Based on Sex/Gender in the Labor Market in BiH”, which seeks to establish better and coordinated cooperation between these actors.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ombudsperson Institution, the Banja Luka Centre for Human Rights, the Cantonal Institute for the Provision of Free Legal Aid Sarajevo, the Foundation United Women, the Center for Free Legal Aid Banja Luka, the Cantonal Institute for Legal Aid Zenica, the office of Your Rights Banja Luka, AC Future Modriča, the Lara Foundation Bijeljina, the Foundation of Local Democracy, and the lawyer of AC Labour Movement.
The first in a series of networking meetings served to review the obstacles in the work of the centers, such as the financing of legal services of non-governmental organizations from public donor funds, challenges in the work of public centers, as well as to present the program of upcoming educations in the field of labor rights and discrimination.
The meeting in Banja Luka is part of the project “Strengthening Legal Aid Providers to Fight Discrimination Based on Sex/Gender in the Labor Market in BiH” which is being implemented on the territory of BiH by the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in BiH, and with financial support of the Embassy of the United States of America in BiH.
