The phenomenon of feminization of certain professions is the topic analyzed by Nejra Džananović within the project “Academy for Women’s Rights” which is implemented in cooperation with Foundation Heinrich Bӧll.
Mentioned phenomenon occurs in many states and therefore also in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is especially visible in the teaching profession. The reason for this is found in various contexts: cultural, societal, psychological, philosophical, and others. A decreasing number of men decide to be educated for teaching profession due to the incisive, conservative position of the society that teaching is female profession. Stigma and discrimination of the community over men who have wish to be teachers is most certainly present which is the reason why they drew their professional activities in another direction. In this research paper is analyzed the phenomenon of gender inequality both in society and education and its link to phenomenon of feminization of the teaching profession.
