Competition for the Regional Journalist Award “Srđan Aleksić”
The award is given to journalists and media from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro in three categories:
1. for journalist courage and excellence
2. for contribution to the community
3. for media
1. The award for journalist courage and excellence is given to journalists who have distinguished themselves by thorough, professional and ethical reporting on corruption, irresponsible work of public and state bodies, destruction of natural resources, political manipulations, violence, glorification of war criminals or other topics that are taboo or about which are rarely or unilaterally reported.
2. The award for contribution to the community is given to a journalist or a group of authors for continuous reporting on reconciliation, inclusion, protection of human rights, gender equality and the rule of law, which has brought concrete benefits to citizens and/or the communities in which they live.
3. The award for media is given to media from the region, which stand out for their responsible editorial policy and support their journalists in their efforts to serve the public interest and protect human rights and freedom of the media.
Journalists and the media can be nominated by associations, informal groups, networks of civil society organizations, editors in the media, journalists, trade unions, scientific and educational institutions, university teachers, from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro.
The nomination deadline is November 1, 2024.
Journalists and the media cannot apply by themselves to the Competition.

For the award in the first two categories for journalists, send from one to a maximum of three recorded broadcasts or texts/articles of the journalist who is being nominated, which meet the criteria for the award in these two categories, and which were published in the period from October 1, 2023 to October 1, 2024.
For the award in the third category, send a link to the media’s website and up to three programs, articles or texts that testify to the fulfillment of the criteria for the award in this category.
Detailed explanations of the criteria for the award in each of the categories and the formats in which nominated articles can be submitted are given in the nomination forms.
The decision on awarding in all three categories will be made by an expert jury consisted of journalists and media experts from the countries participating in the competition.

The Regional Journalist Award “Srđan Aleksić” will be given on December 13, 2024 in Novi Sad, on the occasion of International Human Rights Day.
