The conference entitled “Civil society in Republic of Srpska – Challenges and Perspectives” will be held on September 22 and 23 of this year at the “Bosna” hotel in Banja Luka.
This conference aims to bring together associations, activists and media from Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to discuss the situation in society, and especially in the civil sector, in light of the changes to the Criminal Code and the adoption of the Draft Law on the Special Register of the Work of Non-Profit Organizations by the RS Government, as well as increasingly frequent attacks on associations and activists.
The aim of this two-day conference is to define the state and opportunities of the civil sector, the current challenges and the perspective of development, with concrete steps aimed at preserving civil society and the basic values for which it advocates: the right to assembly and association, the right to freedom of opinion and speech, which are under attack by the adoption of restrictive laws and continuous disparagement of associations and activists.
