Aleksandar Žolja, Executive Director of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly, introduced Duška Jurišić, Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Refugees, at the meeting with the functioning of the Helpline for Human Rights Defenders, especially those who find themselves in crisis situations.
They also discussed the importance of this line, as well as the activities and types of legal assistance provided by the legal team so far.
The meeting also addressed other issues in the field of human rights, especially those concerning endangered and vulnerable groups.
Opinions were exchanged on the possibilities of improving cooperation between state institutions and civil society organizations, with a special focus on the protection of human rights and freedoms of all citizens, as well as on the consequences of adopting repressive laws that restrict freedom of action, speech, expression, etc.
