Gathering in Jajce: Through reading living books, horizons expand and prejudices are rejected

Through reading books, we get to know people and cultures, enrich our understanding of life and situations, and that is exactly what happened through the introduction to living books, which was held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, in Jajce.

Five young people were living books this time and through their readings – personal stories, they were a source for some new perspectives, inspiration, knowledge, rejection of prejudices…

The gathering, which was organized by the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka in cooperation with the Center for Education and Socializing Jajce – CES, ended with the impression that such events should be repeated whenever the opportunity arises.

Because reading is a bridge that connects!

This is part of the project “Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover” which aims to use the concept of a living library to build a framework for conversation among young people that can break down prejudices, counter hate speech against marginalized groups and challenge existing stereotypes and prejudices in the country’s inter-ethnic communities, simultaneously using the storytelling method to promote reconciliation among young people.

The project is financially supported by the Embassy of the United States of America in BiH.
