At the meeting held today in Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and the Coordination of the Fights against Corruption representative of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka introduced representatives of this agency with campaign “Sexual Extortion is Corruption. Let’s Break the Silence” and results of the research on prevalence of the sexual extortion in society.
We discussed the need of legal-formal recognition of the concept of sexual extortion. So far this concept has not been recognized in any law, strategy in BiH or at state and other levels.
Representatives of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and the Coordination of the Fight against Corruption recognized importance of this topic and problem of sexual extortion (blackmail, sexual corruption) and are ready to provide support in potential future activities within its competences and abilities.
We remind, sexual extortion is combination of sexual harassment and corruption.
This is form of “silent corruption” which only now became openly discussed and within this campaign we tried to raise awareness of citizens on the concept of sexual extortion as socially unacceptable phenomenon and introduce decision makers of legislative policies and acts with this topic through advocacy meetings.
