Meeting between the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly and the IFRC in Sarajevo

A meeting was held in Sarajevo between the representatives of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) with the aim of improving cooperation on gender issues and issues of sensitive categories of people in crisis situations. The meeting was attended by Shamsudin Muhidinov, Director of the Disaster Management Program and Nemanja Zekić, Project Manager.

Various aspects of the cooperation between the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka and the IFRC were discussed. It was agreed that cooperation will be intensified, not only at the territory of ​​Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also in the area of ​​South-Eastern Europe where the IFRC operates. Strategies and concrete steps for improving gender equality and support for vulnerable categories in crisis situations, including education and training, were discussed. Also, the importance of regional cooperation and exchange of experiences was highlighted in order to ensure more effective help and support to all vulnerable categories in crisis situations. Both sides expressed their readiness for more intensive cooperation, and the next meeting is planned to ensure the effective implementation of the agreed activities.
