The first panel entitled “Rights, position and obstacles faced by human rights defenders in Bosnia and Herzegovina – main findings and recommendations” will be held on December 10, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Student Cultural Center, and we will present the main findings from the Report on the rights, position and obstacles faced by defenders in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The panelists will also address popular topics:

How has the criminalization of defamation affected the work of activists?
How difficult is it to obtain information of public interest?
What are the main obstacles faced by HRDs?
What is the general state of human rights in BiH?
Panelists are:
ENA KLJAJIĆ GRGIĆ, a lawyer, has been working for Transparency International in BiH since 2008. She is an expert in administrative procedures and administrative disputes related to the implementation of the Law on Freedom of Access to Information. She has participated in numerous conferences, panels, round tables, trainings, and is also engaged as a implementer of professional development programs by the Civil Service Agency of the FBiH in the field of the Right to Access to Information.
AMIL BRKOVIĆ, a legal advisor and program coordinator at the Sarajevo Open Center. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University “Džemal Bijedić” in Mostar as the best student of his generation. He is currently a student of the second cycle of master’s studies at the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo. He provides legal advice to LGBTI persons and works on the general improvement of the legal position of LGBTI persons in BiH.
TEA POKRAJČIĆ, a human rights defender and legal expert with many years of experience in strengthening democracy and the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She coordinates the work of the Human Rights House Banja Luka and the Helpline for Human Rights Defenders at the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka. As an expert for Eurojust, she specializes in international legal assistance and cross-border cooperation in criminal matters. Her professional career includes key positions in the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she worked on issues of the rule of law and international cooperation.
DRAGANA DARDIĆ, Master of Gender Studies and graduated journalist. She exchanged her ten-year journalistic career, which she built at Dnevni Telegraf, Radio Free Europe, BBC and Reuters, for work in the non-government sector, the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly, where she profiled herself for her work on improving women’s human rights, but also the rights of other vulnerable groups, on strengthening the capacities of civil society organizations and the affirmation of socially responsible journalism.
This panel is part of a two-day program within the event “Srđan Aleksić Days” in Banja Luka.
The program that will be held in Banja Luka on December 9 and 10 includes a short documentaries revue, an exhibition and panels, and all will be organized at the Student Cultural Center in Banja Luka (Student Campus).
