The first Specialized Training for Providers of Free Legal Aid on the topic of gender-based discrimination at work in BiH was held

The Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly is in the period from 9-10 December 2022, held the first specialized training for providers of free legal aid on the subject of gender-based discrimination at work in BiH, for representatives of 11 institutional and non-institutional actors who provide free legal aid to persons who suffer gender-based discrimination during employment or at work.

The primary goal of the first of three planned specialized educational trainings for providers of free legal aid on the topic of gender-based discrimination in the labor market in Bosnia and Herzegovina is to strengthen the capacity of providers of free legal aid to deal with cases of gender-based discrimination in the field of work, labour relations and related issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Danijela Radonić, Bachelor of Laws, arbitrator for the peaceful resolution of disputes, gave a theoretical introduction to gender-based discrimination at work, while Lejla Gačanica, an expert in the field of gender-based discrimination, and prof. Dr. Midhat Izmirlija spoke about forms of gender-based discrimination. Activist of HCA presented the results of research on the presence of gender-based discrimination in the countries of the Western Balkans.

The training was attended by 13 participants from the BH Journalists Association, the Foundation United Women, the Cantonal Institute for Free Legal Aid of Sarajevo, the Cantonal Legal Aid Office of Zenica, the Legal Aid Office of Brčko District, the Association Labour Movement, the County Legal Aid Office of Livno, law office Dragan Stanišić, Cantonal Institute for the Provision of Free Legal Aid BPK Goražde, Your Rights Sarajevo, Center for the Provision of Legal Aid East Sarajevo.
