The workshop “Circular Fashion Is Not a Trend But a Need” was held for young people in Banja Luka, as part of the project “Fashioning A Just Transition”.
The topics discussed were what circular fashion is, the importance and significance of the textile industry, but also how much of a polluter it is.
At the global level, as educator Milica Končar said, the textile industry employs 439 million people – mostly women.
The textile industry is the second largest consumer of water, but also a major polluter.
Also, there was a discussion on what fast fashion is, how we can change consumer habits, the importance of recycling, the rights of workers in the textile industry, etc.
@hca.bl started this project in April, as one of the partner organizations of the international network
“Clean Clothes Campaign”, is a project which advocates for improving working conditions and workers’ rights in the global fashion and textile industry, with the support of the European Union.
The project aims to raise important issues concerning the textile industry, its impact on the environment and human rights, especially the rights of women workers, young people and children.
Through a series of carefully designed activities, where educators will be experts, we want to inspire changes that lead to a fairer fashion industry.

“Fashioning A Just Transition” supports the idea of a just transition and together we are shaping a fashion industry that respects people and the environment.
Several more workshops are planned in other cities across BiH.
See you at the next one.
