Gender in civil protection was the topic of today’s meeting between the Ministry of Security of BiH and the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly (HCA). The reason for this meeting was the need to include the issue of gender in the work of civil protection, as well as to present to the Ministry a guide for the inclusion of gender-sensitive policies in the structure of civil protection, which contains a broader explanation of the context of the problem and concrete recommendations for the integration of the gender perspective in the work of civil protection and more active participation of women in these bodies. The Ministry of Security confirmed that the need to introduce the principle of gender equality in this sector is extremely necessary, and that closer cooperation is needed on this issue, which will also include other actors from the field of crisis situations. The meeting was attended by Mirnesa Softić, Expert Advisor in the Operational and Communication Center, Ermin Pešto, Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of the Ministry of Security of BiH for the Implementation of the Law on Gender Equality of BiH, as well as Bojana Ilić, Project Coordinator of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka.
