At the Regional Round Table on the topic of sexual extortion in society, held today in Sarajevo, a representative of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Banja Luka presented a research on the prevalence of sexual extortion (sextortion) in society.
This research was conducted as part of the campaign “Sexual Extortion is Corruption. Let’s Break the Silence!”, and showed, among other things, that over 73% of respondents believe that sexual extortion is very present in our society, and as many as 76% of respondents believe that sexual extortion occurs in the workplace.
Samra Filipović – Hadžiabdić, Director of the Agency for Gender Equality of BiH, gave a welcoming speech, and Rejhana Dervišević from the Commission for the Implementation of Gender Equality of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH presented the introductory part on this topic.
On sexual extortion – the perspective of the judiciary, Vedran Alidžanović from the Prosecutor’s Office of the Tuzla Canton had a notable and important presentation.
During the discussions, regional experiences and practices related to the topic of sexual extortion were discussed.
